What is it?

Medjool dates aren’t called the “Cadillac of Dates” for no reason. Of all types of dates, medjool is the meatiest and sweetest and unlike other dates, it only has a tiny pit. This fruit which belongs to the palm family has an origin that is unclear. However, it is believed medjool might have had its roots in the areas around Iraq. Medjool has been cultivated for such a very long time—at least 6,000 years. Also crowned the “Fruit of Kings,” medjool is prized by the ancients for its big size, juicy flesh and sweet taste whether fresh or dried. It has been mentioned in the Koran and the Bible several times proving it to be one of the oldest cultivated seed in existence. It was the Spaniards who brought date palm seedlings to Cuba in the 1500s attempting to put up a date colony there. However, they failed because the rain negatively affected the quality of the fruits. As they made their way to Mexico and California in the 1700s, they left a trail of date palms. Today, date palms are grown in Algeria, Mecca and other areas with hot climates. At one time, only royalties, their family and friends can partake of this fruit. Now, the world can also experience its succulent taste.

What makes our dried medjool dates different?

Our medjool date palm trees are grown in organic soils in the USA where the location is fit for date-growing given its sensitivity to soil moisture and air quality. No herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides were used on the trees so you can be sure that when you eat our medjool dates, you are eating a fruit untainted by harmful chemicals. We have soil certification and the approval of EU organic certification bodies to prove our product is indeed organic.

A lot of dried medjool dates are soaked in glucose syrup to sweeten it and make it look more attractive. Some even add a touch of “naturalness” to their product by adding a palm branch which is in reality just a plastic spine painted to make it look like a real branch.

Our dried medjool dates, on the other hand, may not have a branch, but it is what we claim it to be—dried medjool dates. It has no added sugar because it’s naturally sweet. It also doesn’t contain any food colouring, additives or preservatives.

We don’t have to resort to those artificial colours and flavours because our dried medjool dates have a naturally rich taste. It has a flavour combination of caramel, wild honey, and cinnamon. When you buy on its soft, sticky flesh, you'd think they just came out of the oven.

Enjoy them in a variety of dishes: in stews, yoghurts, meat dishes and a host of baked goods. And of course, you can also enjoy it on its own as a light, healthy snack.

Our medjool dates USA are picked all by hand, lifting workers in picker trucks so the fruits can be reached. This will ensure that we reach our harvesting goal: to get fruits that are fully ripe and naturally dried while still attached to the tree. This makes the dates free of the need for added treatment. It is labour intensive but doing results to a product we can be really proud of.
